Mary L. Lyle, 92, died July 7, 2017 in Charlotte, NC from dementia. She was born in Akron, OH on March 31, 1925 to Roy and Mary Esther Holderbaum. Mary was a homemaker and dedicated volunteer at Akron General Medical Center accumulating over 14,000 volunteer hours. She was a member of Living Saviour Luther Church of Charlotte, NC and a former member of St. John/St. Paul Lutheran Church in Akron.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry; brother, Bruce Holderbaum and granddaughter, Kristen Lyle. She is survived by sons Charles E. and Linda Lyle of Charlotte, NC and L. Bruce Lyle and Linda Kay Lyle of Phoenix, AZ; five grandchildren: Ashley (Brian) Welborn, Christopher Lyle, Lisa (Rich) Fahey, Jeff (Jennifer) Lyle, and Tina (Mitch) Mullican; eight great-grandchildren: Haley, Katelyn, Duane, Hallie, Luke, Isaac, Jordan and Jacob, and three great-great-grandchildren: Chase, Ella, and Hope.
A special thank you to caregivers Jan Emmich, and Lynne Waller who allowed us to keep Mom at home and Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte Region for their tremendous assistance and care.
A service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Living Saviour Lutheran Church, 6817 Carmel Road, Charlotte, NC 28226 with Pastor Angela Powell officiating. Internment will be held at 9:00 am on Monday, July 17, 2017 at Salisbury National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to a memorial fund in her honor at Living Saviour Lutheran Church of Charlotte.
