Marvin Glen Canady, age 90, passed away at his home in Harrisburg, NC Sunday, November 5, 2017. Born January 11, 1927 in Aurora, NC, he was the son of the late Mark and Alma Canady. Marvin retired from Refabco Steel, Inc. in Charlotte, NC as a Steel Detailer Draftsman.
After graduating from high school Mr. Canady joined the Merchant Marines during WWII. He was then drafted into the Infantry and served as a Sargent. Marvin is a veteran of the Korean War and a Purple Heart recipient.
He later attended Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, FL where he met and married his late wife, Phyllis Britton Canady of 50 years. He is survived by his daughter Leslie Wieser and husband David of Matthews, NC; son Glenn Canady and wife, Sandy of Concord, NC; grandchildren Tara Roberts, David Candy, Laura Canady and great-grandchildren Liam and Emma Roberts.
The funeral service will take place at McEwen Funeral Service, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte on Friday, November 10, 2017 beginning at 1:00pm with Pastor Scott Simpson (Covenant Presbyterian Church of Concord NC) officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00am. Interment will take place at Sharon Memorial Park.
