Marianne was born November 5, 1923 in Heidelberg, Germany. In her twenties she met the love of her life, Robert Taylor, while he was serving the U.S. Army during World War II. They were married on January 4, 1949 in Heidelberg, Germany. They lived many different places - Germany, Alaska, Kansas and Colorado - all before settling in Charlotte, where she was a devoted homemaker to her family. Marianne will especially be remembered for her generosity, loving spirit, and kind heart. Her interests included gardening, cooking and reading while her passion was her family and loved ones.
Marianne is survived by her husband, Robert F. Taylor; sister, Inge Schmiedl and family; brothers, Kurt Haas and Horst Eck; sons, Walter Taylor and wife, Pamela Taylor, and Rodney Taylor; daughter-in-law, Sharon Taylor; six grandchildren, Jodie Conte and husband, Jennifer Espin and husband, Richard Taylor, Jamie Taylor and husband, Michael Taylor and Crystal Comer and husband; five great-grandchildren Zac and Taylor Johnston and Victor, Alexis and Matthew Espin; and a great-great grandson, Gabe Espin. In addition to her parents, Marianne was preceded in death by two sons, Richard Taylor and Paul Taylor.
Visitation will be held at 1:30 p.m. and funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday July 7, at Wilson Funeral & Cremation Service. Reverend Todd Marlin will be officiating and grandsons will be serving as pallbearers. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
