Lewis Richard Hinson, 94, gained his heavenly wings on March 2nd, 2024. Lewis was a true and faithful believer and knew he would be welcomed into the arms of his merciful savior. Lewis’s faith, character and strength were admired by everyone who knew him, and he will be missed by all.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00am, March 8, 2024, at Central United Methodist Church, 6030 Albemarle Road in Charlotte, with Rev. Ron Perry officiating. There will be a visitation with the family from 10:00-11:00 prior to the service at the church. His body will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery.
Lewis was born December 22, in Concord, NC and was the son of Ollie and Laura Hinson. He grew up in Concord, served in the Army after High School, and later attended Pfeiffer College and graduated from Catawba College. He retired after 25 years as a Vice President & Trust Officer for Nations Bank, and later joined the law firm of Smith, Helms, Mulliss, and Moore as an Office Manager before retiring after 16 years.
Lewis is survived by his daughter Alice Dickens (Mike), his son Jeff Hinson (Sheri), five grandchildren Courtney, Jenny (Jeff), Natalie, Nicole, and Seth (Amber), eight great-grandchildren Bryce, Mariah, Macy, Gracie, Parker, Ella, Olivia, and Nicolas, his brother Don Hinson (Pat), his sister-in-law Rose Davis, sister-in-law Nancy Kluttz, and a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years; Dorothy, parents, brothers; Melvin and Glenn, and sisters; Irene, Pat, and Doris.
Lewis was a loyal and dedicated member of Central United Methodist Church for 66 years and was a member of the Friendship Class. Lewis was a strong and faithful leader in his family, church, and business. He was considered a mentor by many of his church friends. He was a Sunday School teacher, a Lay Leader, and a member of many church committees. He enjoyed traveling, especially to the beach, gardening, and spending time with family.
