Laura Ann Coleman (59) died peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Friday, October 13, 2023 following a courageous battle with cancer in Charlotte, NC. Her positivity and strength of spirit shone through every step of her journey.
Laura was born in Belleville, NJ on June 8, 1964 to Richard and Carol Glogoza. She was a devoted older sister who always put family first. Since her early years, Laura fearlessly displayed her unique personal style - whether she left the house in a mini dress or a Wham! hoodie, she was sure to turn heads. Laura was also an exceptional chef and baker - she first discovered her joy for cooking by making family recipes with her mother, and later honed her skills while attending the Culinary Institute of Memphis. Her food was the talk of every holiday and house party.
Laura was an exceptionally devoted wife, caring mother to two children, and a thoughtful friend to many. She took time to celebrate the beauty in life, big and small, always with a glass of champagne in hand. Above all, Laura lived life fully and treated every day like a gift. She brightened every room she entered, and lived as a shining example of compassion to all who knew her. Laura touched the lives of many in Charlotte through her work as a cancer exercise specialist. Since her first battle with breast cancer in 2015, she dedicated her energy toward supporting others through their cancer journey. Laura volunteered with Carolina Breast Friend’s Pink House to teach fitness and cooking classes to fellow cancer survivors, aiding them in their return to healthfulness and normalcy. Most notably, Laura identified a crucial gap in supportive care for cancer patients and successfully piloted a specialized exercise program at the Levine Cancer Institute to aid survivors with their physical rehabilitation.
She is remembered by her children Tori and Emily, husband John, mother Carol Glogoza and siblings Stephen Glogoza, Susan Hahn and Lisa Abrusia.
The family will greet friends from 5-8pm on Thursday, October 19. 2023 at McEwen Funeral Service located at 5716 Monroe Road in Charlotte.
