Kirk Donald Joseph Mason, 70, a man deeply grounded in faith, centered his life around Jesus Christ. This became most evident in his fight with cancer the last years of his life. He died at home, in the loving arms of his wife, Danuta.
Born in Batavia, NY, he graduated from Livonia Central School. He was an alumnus of Virginia Tech.
While living in Hawaii, Kirk fell in love with his ballroom dance instructor, Danuta Kusiak Mason. Married 32 years, he was a devoted husband, focused on following the example St. Joseph set in the Holy Family. Kirk enjoyed family time together, as spouse, brother, and loving uncle. Being Uncle and Godfather was his joy, sharing the meaning and depth of God’s love with nieces and nephews. He lovingly provided home and attentive care for his father and Danuta’s parents in their final years of life.
Kirk was gifted in creative talents. Enjoying storytelling, he kept people laughing and connected with his funny stories and jokes. Using vocal impressions of celebrities, animals, and TV/movie characters, he entertained people for hours at a time. In Hawaii, he was an actor, voice-over specialist for TV and radio. He also worked as DJ/Program Director/Production Director for both KORL and KUMU radio stations.
His real estate career began in Honolulu. Moving to Florida, he became a top sales consultant for David Weekly Homes. Deep concern for client needs and dedicated hard work earned him much recognition with the company in Tampa Bay and Charlotte. Additionally, fellow employees experienced, valued, and honored his generous help in any given situation.
Raised Episcopalian, he later entered the fullness of the Catholic Church. At Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Dunedin, FL, he joined the men’s group, That Man Is You. The friendships and support of those men helped him grow and mature spiritually.
Preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Barbara, and brothers, Kevin and Kameron, he is survived by loving wife, Danuta; sister, Kathie Mason Briggs; and many precious nephews and nieces.
The family will receive friends from 10:00-10:45 am on Friday, June 3, 2022 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 3016 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28211. The celebration of the Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 am.
