Kelly was born May 20th,1970, in Chicago, IL, to Bernadette Hofer-Arnold and the late James Arnold. Kelly’s family moved to Norton Shores, MI, where she was raised and graduated from Muskegon Catholic Central High School in 1988. Kelly went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology and psychology from Alma College, where her studies took her abroad, living and studying in Austria for a year.
In 1993, Kelly married the love of her life, Steven James Boon. The two had two beautiful children, Madeline and Logan, and later relocated to Charlotte, NC. Kelly went on to have a successful professional career in pharmaceutical sales, earning the prestigious sales achievement of President’s Club.
Kelly was preceded in death by her son, Logan Christopher Boon, her husband Steven James Boon and grandparents, Helen and Raymond Hofer Sr.
She is survived by her beloved daughter Madeline of Oakland, CA, devoted mother Bernadette Hofer-Arnold of Norton Shores, MI; Brother, Kevin Arnold of Norton Shores, MI and his son, Wyatt Arnold (Elise) and great nephew Salvatore; Brother, Dr. Denis Arnold and niece, Skye of Concord, NC; Sister, Traci Voss (David) and nephews Matthew and Luke, nieces Katherine, and Elizabeth of Louisville, KY; Sister, Megan Ruszkowski (Chris) and nephews, Maxwell, Jacob, Sebastian and Griffin of Littleton, CO; Sister, Shannon Ranaletta (Chip) and nephews, Trey, Drew and Jack of Huntersville, NC; Brother, Brian Arnold (Angela) and nephews, Rory and Asher and niece Julia of Houston, TX, Brother-in-law, David Boon (Yvonne) and nephews and nieces, Cecilia Potts, Arie Boon (Caitlin), Anthony Boon (Elizabeth) and Alida Semrinec (Andrew) of Grand Haven, MI; Sister-in-law, Linda Brown (Bill) and niece and nephew, Ellen and Jerod of Grand Haven, MI.
Kelly leaves behind her proudest life-long achievement, daughter Madeline Boon of Oakland, CA. She loved to share Maddie’s many accomplishments with family and friends and celebrate her birthday like it was a national holiday. Kelly was an avid reader and accomplished cook who loved to entertain family and friends. She loved beach vacations and spending time playing board games with her many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Kelly’s life will be held at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 3016 Providence Road, Charlotte, North Carolina, on Tuesday, February 15, at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Li-Fraumeni Syndrome. LFS is an inherited familial predisposition to a wide range of specific, often rare, cancers. The LFS Association provides a wide range of information, advocacy, and support services for individuals and families with Li-Fraumeni Syndrome. In addition, the organization supports a consortium of researchers, medical providers, and caregivers to further research and promote optimal care for the LFS community.
