She was born March 30, 1942, in Fort Lawn, SC to the late Clifton Martin and Evell McCrory. Her stepfather James Archie preceded her in death.
In her early years, her family moved to Charlotte, NC and she attended Marie G. Davis Elementary and York Road Junior and Senior High School, where she was a cheerleader, active member of several school clubs and played the Clarinet in the marching band. She graduated in 1961 and attended Central Piedmont Community College.
Katherine was employed with Wachovia Bank for 25 years. She was a team lead for the Account Services department and later retired to care for her beloved husband, Leonard.
She enjoyed bowling, traveling and fishing with her family. She had a heart after God and loved reading and studying His Word.
Katherine, alongside her husband, was a devoted member of Blessed Assurance Faith Center and was a prayer warrior for the salvation and healing of young people. She served faithfully until she moved to Florida in 2018. Once in Florida she attended Christian Life Celebration Centre’ and continued her passion for serving the Lord.
She will be most remembered for her loving devotion to her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard of 48 years. They married on September 26, 1965, and had three children together: Anthony White (deceased), his wife, Thelma of Rock Hill, SC, Karen Brown (W. James) of Winter Garden, FL, and Kathy Ford (Lawrence) of Apopka, FL; and she was a loving stepmother to Veronica Brown (deceased) and Leonard Gaines of Charlotte, NC.
She was the eldest of three siblings. She was preceded in death by her youngest sister, Sheila Milton (Paul), of Charlotte, NC. She is survived by her sister, Carrie Mills; brother-in-law, Alfonso White (Harriet); and sister-in-law, Patricia White, all of Charlotte, NC, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and relatives and friends.
