A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Philadelphia Presbyterian Church with The Reverend Dr. Charles Williamson and The Reverend Lee Koontz officiating. Interment will follow at Charlotte Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service in the church rotunda.
Kay was born February 11, 1925 in Rowan County, NC, a daughter of the late Clifford and Edith McCorkle. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Samuel McCorkle and Henry Albert McCorkle; her sister, Evelyn Overcash; and by her great grandson, Noah Spence.
Kay loved gardening, quilting, and laughing. She was the joy of many peoples’ lives and will remain in everyone’s hearts forever. She will be missed and thought of every day.
Kay is survived by her beloved husband of sixty-four years, Ray; daughter, Donna Blackwell and her husband, Tony; son, David Beaver and his wife, Jamie; granddaughter, Denise Parrott and her husband Billy; grandson, Paul Beaver and his wife, Amy; granddaughter, Lynne Spence and her husband, Evan; five great grandsons; one great granddaughter; sister, Ruth Westmoreland; brothers, Clifford McCorkle, Jr., Harold McCorkle, and Jerry McCorkle; as well as many nieces and nephews.
