She was born on the 22nd of March, 1945 in Shelby, NC to the late Bruce Audy Harry and Sara Helen Fitch Harry.
After moving to Charlotte, Judith attended North Mecklenburg High School and spent numerous years working at Eckerds Pharmacy. After giving birth to her first child in 1965, Judith became a stay-at-home mom, caring for her daughter, and later her son as well, for about fifteen years.
After returning to the workforce, Judith was a manager at Spivey Enterprises, a grocery store in Charlotte, where she was known fondly as the neighborhood mom. Following her time at Spivey, she went on to work in the Human Resources department at Lawrence Transportation until her retirement in 2004. She had a nice work family there whom she adored.
Though Judith did not have a specific church she attended long-term, she had a very deep love for the Lord. She was a devout Christian woman, a witness to the Lord, and a true spiritual leader for her family. Some of her favorite hobbies were reading her bible and listening to gospel music.
Her immense devotion to her faith was equal to her tremendous love for her family – those were her two greatest passions in life. She especially loved taking care of her beautiful grandchildren, and one of her favorite things to do for those she loved was cook. She was extremely skilled in the kitchen with an endless list of perfected dishes. Her son’s favorite was tacos, while her daughter’s favorite was beef tips, but she also made an incredible lemon meringue pie and was lovingly dubbed the “Soup Queen” by her kids.
Judith also fondly enjoyed crafting and spending time with her beloved pets – her dog, Spice, and her bird, Liddle.
Judith was a true rock to all who knew her. She was 4 feet and 10.5 inches tall with a 10 foot tall personality – a firecracker. She was caring, loving, and so fun. She was the street mom in the neighborhood, feeding all the neighbors and never letting anyone leave her house hungry, even at the end of her life.
Those left to honor Judith’s memory include her children, Gehrig Williams (Emma Clark) and Michele Smith; her grandchildren, Trinity Raine Williams, Olivia Gemma Skye Williams, and Destiny Williams; her brother, Charles Bruce Harry; her aunt, who was like a sister to her, Linda Fitch Greene; and numerous other loving family members and friends.
Judith was preceded in death by her parents, Bruce and Sara.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Christian Fellowship Assembly, 2352 Dallas-Cherryville Hwy in Dallas, NC.
In lieu of flowers, support may be offered to the family by way of financial donation to help cover funeral expenses.
