Joyce Hendrix was born on February 9, 1935 in Gastonia, NC, a daughter of the late Joyce and Arthur Harris.
She graduated from Myers Park High School in 1953 and from Sullins College in Bristol, VA in 1955. She was employed by Piedmont & Northern Railway Co. for several years and did volunteer work at Charlotte Latin School for nine years and at the American Red Cross for six years.
She is survived by her daughter Kathryn Griggs of Chapel Hill and grandson Justin Griggs of Charlotte.
Services will be private.
