John Ward

Mr. John Ward entered into peace on April 29, 2013 at the age of 77, at Presbyterian Hospital. A funeral service has been planned for 2:00 on Friday, May 3, 2013 at McEwen Funeral Services, 5716 Monroe Rd., Charlotte, NC. conducted by Pastor Tennyson Shifley. Visitation will start at 1:00. Interment will be at Sharon Memorial Park, 5400 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC. Mr. Ward was born on March 17, 1936 to John Ward and Florence Detweiler Ward. He was raised in Allentown, Pennsylvania and attended Lehigh University. After receiving his degree in Chemical Engineering, Mr. Ward began his career in sales with E.I. DuPont de Nemours. He and his young family moved to Charlotte, NC in 1969 where he eventually retired after 38 years of service. Mr. Ward loved spending time working outdoors, playing bridge and poker with friends, traveling, playing the piano, and watching the Washington Redskins, but most of all he cherished his family. He loved to laugh and was always learning something new. Mr. Ward is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Bonita Louise Ward, two sons and daughters-in-law Eric Stephen Ward and Denise Ward of Westlake, Ohio, and John Michael Ward and Judith-Ann Ward of Lebanon, Tennessee, a daughter Melissa Ward Ford and husband Kris Ford of Richmond, Virginia, a sister Florence Amrick and her husband Joseph Amrick of Allentown, Pennsylvania, a sister Dorothy Dietz of Allentown, Pennsylvania and four grandchildren, Haley and Paige Ward and Savannah and Jack Ford. Mr. Ward was preceded in death by his sister Margaret Keiper and husband Robert Keiper of Allentown, Pennsylvania and Charles Dietz, brother-in-law.
