John C. Sullivan Jr.

John Cordell Sullivan Jr., 66, of Huntersville, passed away August 5, 2023. Born March 2, 1957 in Charlotte, he was the son of John C. and Zelma (Roberts) Sullivan Sr. He married Dorothy Moss on August 26, 1978 in Charlotte.

A respected VP of SBA at Fidelity Bank in Charlotte, John was a graduate of East Mecklenburg High School and went on to further his education at East Carolina University receiving his Bachelor’s degree. Having served his country in the U.S. Army, John was a member of the VA Breakfast Club and Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Charlotte, NC.

A loving husband, father and grandfather, John enjoyed life to the fullest. He and Dorothy enjoyed traveling to new destination every year. When he wasn’t entertaining and cooking for friends and family, he loved playing video games with his grandson, Daniel, who kept him young at heart. A dedicated ECU alumni, John was a serious sports fan, supporting ECU, Charlotte Hornets and Panthers.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Dorothy M. Sullivan; daughters, Corissa Dante Sullivan and Natasha (Joe) Sullivan Doane; grandson, Daniel Cordell Sullivan; parents, John C. and Zelma Sullivan Sr.; sisters, Ingrid R. Sullivan and Donna (Eugene) S. Murrell; and a large extended family including numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

John was preceded in death by his sister, Rosalyn Sullivan Houston.

A visitation for John will be held Saturday, August 19, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Mount Carmel Baptist Church, 7237 Tuckaseegee Road, Charlotte, NC 28214. A funeral service will follow immediately at 1:00 PM. Burial in Northlake Memorial Gardens, Huntersville, NC.
