Mr. John R Klein

John R. Klein, age 84 of Charlotte, beloved husband of 62 years to Vera Stikeleather Klein, went to meet his Savior on January 24, 2014. Born in Brooklyn, NY on June 15, 1929, he was the son of the late John Charles and Permelia Klein.

John served 5 years with the US Marine Corps during the Korean War, and later retired from the Air National Guard. He was Deputy Chief within the Charlotte Fire Department and focused his career in the communications department for over 30 years. John was a very active member of Assurance United Methodist Church in Huntersville who also sang in the church choir. He loved his family and grandchildren very dearly and and was a beloved PaPa to them all. He was widely known and loved for his wonderful sense of humor and generosity.

He is survived by 2 children; John R. “Jay” Klein, Jr. of Huntersville and Rhonda Hardee(Roger) of Charlotte; 4 grandchildren; Staci, Christa, Britni and Alayna.; one great grandson Mason; 3 sisters Gerri, Sally and Patsy.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 27, 2014, 2:00 PM at Assurance United Methodist Church, 9700 Mount Holly Huntersville Rd, Huntersville, NC 28078 with Pastors Sarah Elliott and Mike Goode to officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior at the church. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery, Charlotte. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Assurance United Methodist Church, 9700 Mount Holly Huntersville Rd., Huntersville, NC 28078.
