John Paul Jones

Born to Nathan F. and Louise Setzer Jones on June 21, 1927 in Hickory, NC, John served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and graduated from Lenoir Rhyne College. After college, he worked for the Mecklenburg Health Dept. Later, he and his partner, Ralph Howey, formed Howey-Jones Realty. John was president of John P. Jones Construction, Inc. for 25 years. He was active in the Charlotte Homebuilders Assoc. serving as Director, Vice President and Treasurer. Mr. Jones was also a member and Deacon at Sardis Presbyterian Church and Avondale Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Virginia Silvester Jones; his children, Paul M. Jones (Sally Greene), Thomas F. Jones (Billie Jo), Mary L. Jones, and John N. Jones (Anne); and his grandchildren, Nathan Jones, Ted Patterson, Ross Jones, Tucker Jones, Sarah Jones and Logan Patterson.

He was predeceased by his son, James Logan Jones.

He was a great father and grandfather who will be remembered for his sense of humor.

A service to celebrate Mr. Jones’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. January 28th at Plantation Estates. A service will also be held at 2:00 p.m. January 28th at Sardis Presbyterian Church.
