Joanna Barrett

Joanna was born on February 16, 1972 to Diane Barrett and Peter H. Callahan at Orange Memorial Hospital in Orange, New Jersey. She was the youngest of six children. Joanna attended the Township of Orange public schools from kindergarten through high school, graduating from Orange High School with the Class of 1990.

Joanna moved to Charlotte, NC in the late 1990's with her two eldest children Derrick and Dianna. She made Charlotte her home and expanded her family to include her two youngest children, Devante and Melina, both born here in North Carolina.

While Joanna loved to spend time with her four children just hanging out together and playing games, she treasured her time most with her grandchildren. Her favorite color was pink, hence her social media name "PinkNPretty". She was also a dedicated employee and worked 16+ years with her IKEA family.

Joanna was predeceased by her father Peter H. Callahan, brothers Derrick Barrett and Carl Barrett. She is survived by her four children, sons Derrick and Devante Barrett, daughters Dianna Barrett and Melina Diaz (Jimmy), grandchildren Madisyn, Zariah, Jimmy Jr. and Derrick Jr., her mother Diane Barrett, sisters Ramona Barrett, Angelina Killane-Sims (Hakim), and brother Frank Barrett (Laurel). She leaves to mourn her a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

We would like to take this moment to express how thankful we are for all of your kind words, thoughts and prayers that were sent our way.

We thank you for every gesture of love and support that has covered us during this difficult time.
