Mrs. Rowland, of Charlotte, passed away Friday, January 4, 2013 at CMC Pineville. Joan was born December 15, 1925 in Bristol, England and moved to the United States in 1954. Joan and her family were members of St. Ann Catholic Church where her children attended school. She retired from Ivey’s Department store after 15 years of service. Joan was a loving wife and mother of six children.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Jeff Rowland.
She is survived by her daughters, Kerry Shute (Jim); Joanne Stephens (Danny); Polly Bodner (Lee); her sons, Richard Rowland (Tara); Matt Rowland (Kim); and David Rowland (Terri), her sisters Betty Vickery and Peggy Bricknell of Bristol, England. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren who loved her dearly.
A private service will be held at McEwen Funeral Service Pineville Chapel.
