Jo Ann Rhyne Norris

A native of Charlotte, Jo Ann was born to the late Joseph Herbert Rhyne and Sally Brown Rhyne on November 25, 1945. She graduated from South Mecklenburg High School, received her B.S.N. from East Carolina University, received her M.S.N. from Emory University and was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi. Jo Ann taught nursing at UNC Charlotte, Presbyterian School of Nursing and Queens University where she attained Professor Emeritus status. She worked many years part time as a night nurse at Charlotte Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat. Jo Ann was a member of Sugaw Creek Presbyterian Church where she served as Clerk of Session. She was preceded in death by her husband Steven Thomas Norris in 2001.

Jo Ann is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Norris and Deborah Norris Miller (Stephen) both of Charlotte and by sister, Sally Hutchison of Cornelius.

The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 28 at Sugaw Creek Presbyterian Church, 101 W. Sugar Creek Rd., Charlotte with the Rev. Dr. William H. Ralston officiating. Entombment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday evening at McEwen Derita Chapel, 6300 Mallard Creek Rd., Charlotte.
