Born May 4. 1931 in Charlotte, he was a son of the late Russell and Doris McAlister. Mr. McAlister was a member of Ebenezer ARP Church. He had a passion for gardening and was known best for the tomatoes he grew in his garden. People came from miles around to purchase them and he gave tons away.
Mr. McAlister loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. His favorite thing was to ride his grandchildren around his farm in his golf cart. He also loved to hunt and fish.
He is survived by his daughter, Vickie Pangle and her husband, Teddy, and his son, Jerry McAlister, Jr.; two brothers, Andy and Roger; and his sister, Jean; as well as five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Clary McAlister; and siblings, Fred, Peggy, Tommy and R. E.
A service to celebrate Mr. McAlister’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 15th from the graveside at Ebenezer ARP Church Cemetery, 6210 Old Pineville Road in Charlotte.
