Born in Tarentum, Pennsylvania to parents Dariell and Violet Erskine, Jeff was a Cub Scout and he discovered what would become a life long passion for golf during junior high when he began competing in golf tournaments, as well as playing baseball and softball. During his high school career, he was a member of the swim team, as well a provider of audiovisual and projection services for the school. He graduated from Deer Lakes High School in 1977.
Two years later he graduated from Penn Technical Institute of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with an Associates in Specialized Technology. Upon graduation he was hired by IBM and moved to Charlotte, NC. He enjoyed a long, successful career with IBM that lasted 43 years.
Jeff was an avid golfer, wood worker, and an accomplished athlete. A life long sports fan, he also loved music, spending time with his daughters and grandchildren, and doting on his dog Penny.
He is survived by his daughter Ashley King; son in law Charlie King; grandsons Clive King and Jude King; granddaughter Rhea King; daughter Nicole Erskine; daughter in law Scarlett Sheppard Erskine; sister Jennie Friedhof; brother in law Mike Friedhof; brother Bill Erskine; sister in law Linda Erskine; niece Katie Synder; nephew in law Doug Snyder; great nephew Jesse Snyder; as well as many other loved ones and close family friends.
Above all else, Jeff was a devoted dad to his children. He will be remembered as a fun and loving spirit, whose generosity and kindness touched many.
A private memorial is being held by close family and friends later this week. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity that was close to Jeff’s heart, Hospice Foundation of America.
