Jean’s parents William Winder Jackson and Virginia Maxwell Jackson were blessed with their daughter 82 yrs. ago, on Nov. 2, 1932. She passed away peacefully at home on Nov. 6, 2014 surrounded by family. Jean was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Eric Charles Vanderlip.
Jean had a passion for helping others and spent much of her life as an LPN providing care for patients in the psychiatric unit at Charlotte Memorial Hospital. She made a beautiful home with her family where she bandaged skinned knees, prepared meals and shared her creative talents of crafting, baking and sewing with friends and family. Jean loved to travel and combined her love of America with family trips to National monuments.
Jean is survived by her husband Miller Gilbert Vanderlip, married 64 years, brother William Fredrick Jackson and wife Jeri Dawn Jackson of Idaho, sister-in-law Elsie F. White and Terry White of Mint Hill, sister-in-law Dolly V. Ozburn and the late Clement Ozburn of Wisconsin, son Gill Vanderlip and wife Mataya, son Scott Vanderlip, daughter Melanie Benton and husband Tony Benton, 7 grandchildren and 8 great- grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
All those that knew her were bathed in the light of love here on earth from this beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many.
The light of love she shared with us here on earth is now amplified throughout the bright starlight of the heavens… hers was a life well lived and a life that mattered.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Judes or The Salvation Army.
Graveside service will be held on Sat. Nov. 15, 2014 at 2:00, Sharon Memorial Park.
