Jasper Forbes

Jasper Douglas Forbes, 80, of Charlotte, NC, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 20, 2019. Survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Dixie; and their four children, Kim (Mark) Bumgarner of Stanley, NC, Steve (Jody) of Denver, NC, Beverly (Jeff) McClure of Sherrills Ford, NC, Torri Forbes of Mooresville, NC. and many grandchildren and great grandchildren that he adored. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters; Ray, Jerry, Ada and Judy. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Vennie and Brenda.

Jasper was a gracious man that gave of his time often. He spent many years as a volunteer for the West Mecklenburg Optimist Club. He also was a dedicated servant to the Lord with his work with The Promised Land. He met many, many friends during his years, whether through church, hobbies or selling office supplies on the streets of Charlotte. Up until his health had started to decline, you could find him on a golf course with his usual foursome of nearly 40 years, or having coffee at the Waffle House every afternoon, which after retirement, turned into coffee midmorning with his buddies.

Over his life he made an impact everlasting, such a kind and gentle soul, that will be missed by so many. Please join the family in celebrating his life on Thursday, April 25, 2019, with receiving friends at 11:00 am followed by the service at 12:00 pm at Durham Memorial Baptist Church on Toddville Road in Charlotte, NC.
