She was born to the late Harry A. and Vera (Croft) Getty, on March 26, 1923, in Lorain, OH. Janet graduated from Lorain High School in 1941 and attended Ohio University where she studied secretarial science. She married Richard Cullen (Rosenberg) McCullough (Lt. U.S.N.R) in October 1944 and they lived in Evanston, IL, La Crosse, WI, and Chicago, IL. Upon Dick’s death in 1952, Janet and their two children returned to Ohio, where she lived until moving to Charlotte, NC, in 2002.
Janet worked as a secretary at Vermilion High School from 1964 until her retirement in 1985. She was an active member of the United Church of Christ (Congregational), Vermilion College Club, and Alpha Xi Delta sorority. She loved music and was an accomplished violinist. Her other pastimes included sewing, reading and genealogy research.
Janet is survived by her children, Dale Alan McCullough of Portland, OR, and Lynn McCullough (Douglas) Barrett of Charlotte, NC. She is also survived by a grandson, Alexander Richard (Kellyn) McCullough of Madison, WI.
Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Lorain, OH. Arrangements are being made by McEwen Funeral Service – Pineville, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research or the charity of your choice.
