Born July 16, 1938, to the late William and Edna Ludwig in Patterson, NJ. He married Arlene Ludwig in 1964 and raised four children. He was extremely dedicated to his children in all aspects of their lives, coaching them in scouting, baseball, softball, basketball, and football. However, his pride and joy were his eight grandchildren.
He had a successful 40-year career with Bell Labs, AT&T, IBM, and Lucent in NJ, where he lived until 2004. He was a 1956 graduate of St. Bonaventure High School in Patterson, NJ and received his BS in Accounting from Fairleigh Dickson University in 1969.
Jim proudly served his country in the Air Force as a medic from 1958 to 1962, being stationed in Japan and San Antonio, TX. He was a member at St Peter's Catholic Church in Parsippany, NJ serving as a lector for over 10 years. He was a member of the American Legion, the Jaycees, the Parsippany Juvenile Conference Committee, the Telephone Pioneers of America, and GUIDE. Jim was an active member of the Four Seasons at Gold Hill community in Fort Mill, SC, participating in the men’s group and bocce leagues.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene, of 60 years; son, Jim Ludwig (Amparo), daughters, Linda Stipo (Jerry), Donna Morris (Marc), Patricia Krymgold (Sergey), his brother Bill, and eight grandchildren, Andrew Ludwig, Nicholas Ludwig, Christopher Stipo, Austin Stipo, Amber Morris, Sarah Morris, Joshua Krymgold, and Zachary Krymgold.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Monday, May 13, 2024, at McEwen Funeral Service - Pineville Chapel at 10500 Park Road Charlotte NC 28210. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Saint Philip Neri Church, at 292 Munn Road East Fort Mill SC 29715.
