James Milton Holliday Jr.

James M Holliday Jr was born in Charlotte NC to the late James M Holliday and Elizabeth Wilson Holliday Brown. He has two loving brothers Danny Holliday (Coy Holliday) and Mike Holliday (Carol Holliday) and a loving sister Regina O’Toole (Michael O’Toole). He was married to his high school sweetheart Karen Holliday for a short 11 years, but which they remained great friends. They had a daughter, Leslie Smith (Daniel Smith) that he would do anything in the world for. He also leaves behind two grandchildren that he adored, Cody James Holliday and Olivia Lynn Smith. He also leaves multiple nieces and nephews.

James was a hardworking man that put his best into anything he did. He worked painting CAT tractors and evolved into working for Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Department, from which he eventually retired from. During his career he would do different jobs that he loved such as getting a chance to work for the US Marshall’s and working security at the Carolina Panthers games (which gave him the opportunity to watch the games too)!

James was someone that had a huge love for his family. He would drop whatever he was doing in order to lend a hand to someone else. Although hard headed at times, he always wanted to do his best and have the best outcome. He loved doing something, anything. Always wanting to stay busy.

He fought a hard battle after dealing with many years of illness that his body just couldn’t fight anymore. He is deeply loved by many and will be sincerely missed every single day.

A visitation for James will be held Saturday, September 30, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Service-Derita Chapel, 6300 Mallard Creek Road, Charlotte, NC 28262.
