at the age of 82. Jeff was born in Baltimore, MD to the late James and Elizabeth Janney Helm.
Jeff graduated from Mount St. Joseph High School and attended McCoy College before serving
in the US Army Reserves. Jeff began his career at Westinghouse as a programmer and then
retired after a lengthy career with Unisys as Vice President of Customer Service.
Jeff enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was a devoted husband to Debbie
and father to Heather, Jim, and Todd. He spent much of his life following the front tire of his
Harley Davidson with his beloved brother creating many memories. Jeff played a multitude of
instruments, but his favorite was his Martin guitar that sat right next to the recliner he loved so
much! He played in many bands throughout his life, but especially loved playing bluegrass and
country music the past 21 years with his dear friends.
He is survived by his wife Debbie, his children Heather Kinnier (Patrick) of Lancaster PA, James
Helm (Amanda) of Merchantville, NJ, and Todd Helm (Rhiannon) of Lancaster, PA; four
grandchildren Spencer, Spirit, Devlyn and Lucian; his mother-in-law Josephine Pilarski, of Fort
Mill, SC; his sister-in-law Linda Helm of Mount Holly, NC; and many nieces, nephews and
cousins.
In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles (Biff)
Helm, of Mount Holly, NC and his granddaughter Ripley Helm of Merchantville, NJ.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. followed by a
memorial service at 3:00 p.m. at All Saints Anglican Church located at 5328 Hemby Rd.,
Weddington, NC, 28104.
