Mr. Ledford, age 85, of Matthews, died Saturday, June 13, 2015 at his home. Born January 4, 1930 in Gaston County, he was a son of the late Irving W. Ledford and Ruth Hinson Ledford. Mr. Ledford honorably served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He retired as a design engineer of Duke Power after 33 years of service. Mr. Ledford was a dedicated member of Amity Presbyterian Church where he was a former Elder and Sunday school teacher and served on the finance and cemetery committees.
The service to celebrate the life of Jack Arvil Ledford will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, June 18th at Amity Presbyterian Church with Reverend Grady Moseley and Reverend Betsy Williamson, officiating. The family will receive friends 10:00 AM - 10:45 AM Thursday in the church parlor.
Mr. Ledford was a loving, devoted husband and father. Survivors include two daughters, Amanda Ledford Brown of Matthews and Mary Beth Ledford of Gastonia; three siblings, Betty Ledford Henderson of Morganton, Ed Ledford of Charleston, SC and Jerry Ledford of Rome, GA; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ledford was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Prince Ledford; and three siblings, Margaret Ledford Chaney, Wilson Ledford and Inez Ledford Worthan.
