Mr. Lash obtained an A.A.S in Textile Technology at New York State Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences, and a B.S. and M.S. in Textile Technology at NC State. He retired as a Textile Engineer with American Cyanamid. Mr. Lash had served as a corporal in the Korean War.
At NC State, he was a member of Sigma Tau Sigma, the honorary textile fraternity. As a member of Temple Beth El, he was active in the TBE Spice Seniors. He was also active in the JCC Oasis. He was a supporter and member of the Charlotte Symphony. Jack enjoyed swimming and reading.
His family was the most important concern in his life. Jack valued the dignity of all God’s children. He showed great kindness, gentleness and love for all animals. Jack was a “Mench”.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carole Lash of Charlotte; daughter, Dr. Sara Lash (Sam Emory) of Clayton, NC; son, David Lash of Charlotte; and daughter, Barbara Bond (Robert) of Baton Rouge, LA. Also surviving are his sister, Bernice Greene (Bernard) of Long Island, NY; and nephews, Richard, Robert and Frederick Greene. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his cousin, Maxwell Lessenger; and Jack's beloved canines, Melody and Abraham.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Temple Beth El, with Rabbi Judith Schindler officiating. Graveside services will follow at the Hebrew Cemetery
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lash Family Endowment at Temple Beth El, 5101 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28226, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
