J D Autry

J D was inducted in the US Army in 1942 at Camp Croft, S.C. He served in numerous locations in the South Pacific during his service as a World War II veteran. He was a faithful and loving husband, father and grandfather. J D was also a friendly, caring and giving neighbor to all of those around him often offering help to those in need. He was an active church member of Oakhurst Baptist Church for 60 years serving as deacon and on several committees.

Survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife of 68 years, Bobbie Mangum Autry; sons, David Autry and wife Patsy Ann and Doug Autry and wife Denise; grandsons; Michael and Mark Autry; granddaughters, Sarah A. Klandred, Lacie A. McIntyre; great grandchildren, Ethan Autry, Olivia Autry, Hanah Klandred and Hendry Klandred.

In addition to his parents, J D was preceded in death by his brothers Van, Mark, Melvin, and Marvin and his sisters Alice, Kathleen, Mabel and Carrie.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Oakhurst Baptist Church, 5037 Monroe Road, Charlotte, with a service following at Noon. Burial will conclude in Sharon Memorial Park followed by a reception at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park.
