Ila Owens Aycoth McCorkle

Ila O. Aycoth McCorkle, 93, of Charlotte, NC died Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Elmcroft of Little Avenue, Charlotte, NC.

Funeral Service will be held 2:00pm, Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at McEwen Funeral Chapel, Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC with the Rev. Jay Weigel officiating. The family will receive friends from1:00pm until 2:00pm.

Ila, a native of Charlotte, NC, was a wonderful, loving, devoted, Christian mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Church was the cornerstone of her life. She was a member of Glenwood ARP Church from1954 until their last church service in April of this year.

Ila began working in 1949 in the office for Eckerd Drugs and retired after many years of detailed work in1981.

She was preceded in death by her husband Doy E. Aycoth and husband Leonard B. McCorkle, sister Lillian O. Martin, and brother Paul S. Owens.

She is survived by: two siblings, W.C. Owens, Jr and Dorothy O. Merrell; three children Martha A. Miller, Edward D. Aycoth and wife Shirley, Olivia A. Jenkins and husband Dwain; three grandsons, and four great grandchildren.
