Ida M. McDonald

Mrs. McDonald, age 80, of Charlotte passed away Friday, July 22, 2011 at Avante' at Charlotte. She was born October 25, 1930 in Gaston County, NC, daughter of the late Jasper and Lillie Mae Laws Carpenter, a member of Calvary Baptist Church and worked in the Calvary Baptist Church Day Care. Mrs. McDonald was preceded in death by her first husband Roy Melton Helms in 1979 and her second husband Clyde Jack McDonald. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 25, 2011 at McEwen Funeral Service Charlotte Chapel, 5716 Monroe Rd., Charlotte, NC with a service at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel conducted by Reverend Brian M. Taule. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park. Survivors include 2 sons of Charlotte, Roland Helms (Barbara), Ronald (Claudia) Helms, 2 Daughters, Loretta Isaacs of Charlotte, Brenda (Robert) Spizzo of Durham, NC, Brother Chris 'Banjo' Carpenter of SC, 2 step-sons, Doug McDonald of NC, Benny McDonald of GA, step-daughter, Jill McDonald of SC, 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
