Carroll was and active member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church when she passed away. She grew up in Allen Street Baptist Church and served as head of the Nursery Department, Outreach Director, Training Union Leader and then Director, WMU Member, Taught in VBS and served on the Pastor Search Committee.
Allen Street Baptist Church relocated to Shamrock Drive and the name of the church changed to Shamrock Drive Baptist Church. Carroll served the Lord for many years there as the Church Hostess, Choir Member and Choir Librarian, Outreach Director, Nursery Director, and served on the Nominating Committee.
Carroll had a tremendous heart for Missions and loved supporting the Lottie Moon Offering. She and Lee joined N.C. Campers on Missions in 1989 and served their Lord as Directors over the N.C. Campers on Missions State Fair Ministry until 2008…then continuing to support this ministry in any way needed. Campers on Missions took them on the road in service of their Lord as far north as Alaska…west as Nevada, east as Maine and south as Florida and Louisiana. Their travels in mission work found them building and renovating churches and pastors homes and helping with back-yard Bible Schools. Carroll used her gift as a licensed cosmetologist to cut hair for the less fortunate.
Carroll and Lee helped build a full service campground at the Oneida Baptist Institute in Oneida, Kentucky so that large camping groups could come and do volunteer work at the Institute for Children. Carroll also made items for the Institute to sell in their gift shop. Carroll and Lee served as volunteers at Camp Caraway in the capacity of Host and Janitorial & Grounds workers and also helped upgrade the camping sites there. They worked at Broyhill Children’s Home in Clyde, N.C. and Mills Home for Children and many other institutes and Children’s Homes. They traveled to Washington, Vermont to cook 3 meals a day for the 30 volunteers of the Dental Team sponsored by the Mecklenburg Baptist Nursing Fellowship.
Carroll fought the good fight. Every day she fought to stay with us though she was always at peace and looking forward to being with her Heavenly Father. She strived to live a life that would glorify her Savior and lead her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to know and accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
Carroll was a true prayer warrior for her family and anyone in need of prayer. She loved talking to her Lord and Savior and we know she was smiling as she walked through the Gates of Heaven into the Presence of her Lord and Savior.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm on Sunday, June 2, 2019 with a memorial service following at 3:00 pm. at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, 7200 East WT Harris Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28215
