He was born in Beaufort, NC on September 15, 1930. Herbert graduated from Cary High School. He was married to Ola Mae Jackson for 51 years.
Herbert worked with Park & Recreation for The City of Charlotte for 23 years.
He had a passion for fishing and woodworking.
He is survived by daughter Teresa Moore (Mike); son, Herbert J. Jackson III; Granddaughters, April M. Brantley (Dustin) and Nena J Walters; grandsons Allen Moore (Jessica) and Cody J. Jackson.
Also surviving him are 4 great grandchildren and his sister Gertrude Carter of Beaufort, NC.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family for 2:00 until 3:00pm on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at McEwen Funeral Service, 7428 Matthews Mint Hill Rd in Mint Hill.
Immediately following the visitation, a memorial service to celebrate his life will be held in the Mint Hill Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Union County.
