Helen was a devoted mother and wife and we will always cherish her memory.
As a young child, she was affected by almost every childhood disease, a few, quite severely. However, she had a way of surviving and flourishing, and lived a long life to age 94. As a young woman, Helen developed a love for music, first big band and would dance the night away at places like the Savoy in Harlem. Later she knew most of the 60’s and 70’s R&B music to the very end. Most of her working life was devoted to caring for young children of working parents. When not caring for children she was a prolific reader, she always had a book in her hand whenever she had spare time.
She leaves behind to mourn her passing her sister, Frances Mason; her sister-in-law, Anna Easton; her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and William Franklin; her grandchildren, Tracey and Leon Smith, Gerald Franklin, Alyce Franklin-Owens, Latoshia and Anthony Robinson, William and Tiffany Burton, Stacey Davis; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
