Harold "Gene" Pressley

A native of Charlotte, North Carolina, Gene was the son of the late Harold V. Pressley and Ruth Pressley Covington. He was a longtime member of Greater Life Church/Garr Memorial Church, where he served as a member of the board, organized and coached athletic leagues, and was a greeter. Serving the Lord through sports leadership was his passion and he loved every minute of it.

After a three decades career in the safety apparel industry, Gene retired as customer service representative with Fligels Uniform.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Deborah (Bodenheimer) Pressley; his children, Tim (Crystal) Pressley of Wadesboro, North Carolina, Steve (Katie) Pressley of Copley, Ohio, Brenda Grant of Cramerton, North Carolina, Glenda Pressley of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Gene Jr. (Jackie) Pressley of Pace, Florida. Also surviving are his grandchildren, whom he was so proud of, Morgan and Owen Pressley of Charlotte, Emma and Jack Pressley of Copley, Drake (Ashley) Grant of York, South Carolina, Daniel Grant of Belmont, North Carolina, Dacoda Grant of Bessemer City, North Carolina, Christopher (Gale) Pressley of Monroe, North Carolina, Samantha (Andrew) Courtney of Oakboro, North Carolina, Blake Pressley of Las Vegas, Nevada, Jordan McKinney of Wingate, North Carolina, and Briley Helms, Wadesboro; his great grandchildren, Cole Jones of Cramerton, Logan Boyd of Bessemer City, Jaxon, Noah, and Lily Grant of York, Kathryn and Alex Courtney of Oakboro, and Abigale and Christopher Jr. of Monroe; and his sister, Sandra Deese of Kannapolis, North Carolina.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm, Friday, April 21, 2023, at Greater Life Church of Matthews, North Carolina, with a funeral service following at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park, Monroe, North Carolina.

The family offers their deepest appreciation to the care teams at Atrium Union West Hospital and Matthews Health and Rehab. for the warm and compassionate care share to Gene.
