“Buddy”
Mr. Kessler, of Charlotte, NC died on Monday, November 25, 2013 at Royal Park. Buddy was born in Roanoke, VA, raised in Norfolk, VA, and moved to Charlotte in July 1964. He was a faithful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was a veteran of World War II, having served as a radio operator in the 8th Air force in England.
Mr. Kessler retired from Chrysler Financial where he worked for 13 years. Prior to that he worked for Associates Financial Services, Co. for 28 years.
He was a 32nd degree KCH Scottish Rite Mason and Past Master of Kaddish of the Charlotte Consistory. He served as Secretary of the Friendship Masonic Lodge #700 and Past Master. He was secretary of the Charlotte Shriners club and past president. He was a member of the Legions of Honor. He was also a member of the Western North Carolina York Rite College #78, where he received the Gold Honor Award and Order of the Purple Cross.
He received the Mason of the Year Award from Friendship Lodge in 1993 and Man of the Year Award from the Finance Exchange Charlotte Credit Bureau in 1966, and Distinguished Medal Award from the Charlotte York Rite Bodies as well as Man of the Year Award in 1997.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Joyce Edwards Kessler, his son Robert A. Kessler of Charlotte, his daughters Tracy Lambros of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Nancy K. Insch of San Diego, CA; and his sister Kathryn Duffy of Norfolk, VA. He was preceded in death by his sister Margaret Haddaway.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 29, at 3 PM at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 3115 Providence Rd Charlotte where the family will receive friends immediately following the service.
