It is with much sadness and wonderful memories that we announce the passing of our mother, Grace Ayers Sossamon. She was born November 29, 1929 in Charlotte, NC to Bernard Wiltse and Grace Efird Barnett. Mrs. Sossamon was a lifelong member of Purcell United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Sossamon is survived by her children: Michael Ayers and Julie Westcott, Rosemond Davis and Mike Davis, Elizabeth Lyttle and Mike Twitty, Dale Ayers and Billie Ann Ayers, and Marianne Maultsby and Ashley Maultsby; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husbands, Melvin Ayers and Ed Sossamon.
A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Sharon Memorial Park. The family will receive guests following the service.
