Born October 10, 1925 in Rockingham, NC, Mrs. Wellman was a daughter of the late James Duncan Sanders and Lily Elizabeth Yandle Sanders. She moved to Charlotte when she was four years old. Gladys married Jack Sidney Wellman and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mrs. Wellman’s favorite things to do were praising the Lord at church and spending time with her family.
She is survived by three children, Sidney Dwain Wellman, Gail Wellman Hedgepeth and husband Larry, and Sherman Lee Wellman and wife JoAnn; six grandchildren, Sandra Skipper, Jimmy Wellman, Sidney Wellman, Kevin Wellman, Paul Williams and Lee Wellman, and six great grandchildren; as well as one sister, Vera Dunlap and her husband, Bill.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 year, Jack Sidney Wellman; her eldest son, Jack Stephen Wellman; sisters, Lois Adams, Ada Sanders and Grace Sanders; and brothers, Charlie Sanders and Jim Sanders.
Mrs. Wellman’s family will receive friends from noon until 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 6th at Christian Fellowship Assembly Church, 2352 Dallas Cherryville Highway, Dallas, NC followed by a service to celebrate her life at 1:00 p.m.
