She was born on Oct. 30, 1919, in Lincolnton, NC, to John Sain and Callie Beale Carpenter.
She retired from the Mecklenburg County Clerk of Courts after many years of service.
Gladys was a longtime member of New Covenant ARP Church in Charlotte.
Graveside services will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 8, 2015, at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, in Charlotte. Reverend Scott Robar will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, Charlotte Region, 1420 E. 7th Street, Charlotte, NC 28204 or to the New Covenant A R Presbyterian Church, 2541 Elkwood Circle, Charlotte, NC 28205.
Her family would like to thank the caregivers at Brighton Gardens for their compassionate care.
Survivors include three children, Sandra P. Vaughan; Douglas Payseur (Brenda); and Gayle Jonas (Vernon); four grandchildren; four great granddaughters; and her daughter-in-law, Nancy. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur W. Payseur; and son, Patrick Payseur.
