George Francis Fox Jr.

George Francis Fox, Jr. age 78 of Charlotte passed away January 29, 2014. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Durham Memorial Baptist Church with Mr. Gene Boatwright and Dr. Gerald Bearden officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from one until three pm. Interment will follow the service in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.

George was born and raised in Wilmington, NC and was the son of George and Sarah Vereen Fox. He attended New Hanover High School.

George was a master plumber and worked for many plumbing companies. He also worked with Republic Steele of Charlotte before starting his own company, Fox Backhoe Services, 45 years ago. George loved playing golf, enjoyed UNC basketball, and going to the beach. Most of all, he loved his grandchildren, riding the golf cart and looking for golf balls. He loved cooking, especially his world famous pancakes.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Jesse and sister, Sarah Fox Lee. Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Nancy Bland Fox, sons, George Fox, Jr. of Wilmington, NC, John Fox of Fairview, NC, Julie Fox Jones and husband, Joey, of Conover, NC, Greg Fox of Concord, NC, sister, Susan Brown and husband, John of Wilmington, NC, brother, Jerry Fox and wife, Winnie, of Concord, NC, sister-in-law, Ruby Melton, Earleen Douglas, Carol Fox, brother-in-law, Ray Bland, Kenneth Bland and wife, Kathy, grandchildren , Christopher, Judith, Lucinda Jones, Amy and Brittany Fox, George Fox, and Charlie Baker.
