Born in Birmingham, England, on June 27, he was a devoted, generous, and kind husband, father, and friend, often described as an "example of bravery and English pluck and fortitude" for everyone. Nothing pleased him more than to spend time with his family and friends, especially at motor sports events or enjoying a beautiful day kicking ass and taking names on the golf course! He was educated as a mechanical engineer and received management credentials in England. He immigrated to the USA in 1990 and became a US citizen in 2001. He was a gifted engineer credited with over a hundred patents, a respected business executive, an inspiring mentor to many engineers, and an amateur pilot. His life was full of professional accomplishments that brought great pride and admiration from his family and colleagues. He served as president or vice president for many corporations including Klockner Packaging, Roberts Systems, and JA Jones, culminating into his own company, Lidington Technologies, which specialized in designing, manufacturing, and sales of high speed packaging machinery. His doting wife of 27 years, Linda, would often say, "there is nothing Rick cannot design, make, or repair."
He was preceded in death by his parents Frederick and May Lidington and his sister, Diane Evans.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Linda, his children, Andrew Lidington (Sonia) and Anne Pinder (Roger), his stepdaughters, Jessica Sack (Steve) and Josalyn Allen (Patrick), his brother, Jim Lidington (Hazel), and 8 grandchildren.
A celebration of Rick's zest for life will be held in January. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to ZEROcancer.org or a charity of your choice.
