Franklin Delgar Gibson-Day

With four brothers already in place, no one could have realized how incomplete his family had been until Franklin arrived. Franklin was like a comet in his family’s lives, Fierce, Fiery, Bold, and Amazing!

Franklin, often a philosopher and intellectual, always made his presence and ideas known and his quest to learn more about everything was never satisfied. He was unique, magnetic and he just had a way. He made a mark on everyone he encountered and truly never met a stranger. He could carry on a conversation (or debate) with absolutely anyone while managing to make them feel both at ease and heard. With curly locks, confidence, and spirited personality, Franklin was a loving and caring old soul in a young man’s form, evident in the ’72 MGB convertible he drove and cherished and his music playlists which ranged from Sinatra to Tupac. He was a free spirit and non-conformist, always making sure that you understood his point of view, whether you wanted to or not. Franklin’s heart was as large as his personality. He loved deeply with a dedication to his family and friends that was unwavering. His dreams and aspirations were limitless, and his entrepreneurial mindset was unmistakable. Always planning the next big adventure. Franklin loved and lived life to the fullest and set his own course on and off the roads of life. His impact on each of our lives was and will always be immeasurable. He was one of a kind in every way. His smile and laughter were contagious. His energy was electric. It was just who he was. He was comfortable in his own skin and was able to be exactly who he was. A dear friend of Franklin put it so perfectly when he explained that he had felt that he had always been unlucky until he had the chance to reflect and realized how lucky he really was in having Franklin in his life. We all consider ourselves lucky to have had Franklin in our lives. Like a comet, Franklin was Bright and Spectacular and though gone far too soon, his light will never be separated from our hearts and minds as the love for him is boundless, and how could it not be… he was and forever will be our little Frank-Frank and his memory will forever be a source of joy and comfort.

Franklin attended David Cox and Mallard Creek Elementary, Ridge Road Middle and Bradford Prep, furthering his education at CPCC. His passions included photography, always having his camera bag close at hand to capture a beautiful sunrise and finessing his self-taught culinary skills and then sharing his creations with those around him.

Franklin is survived by his parents, Thomas E. Day and Manning D. Gibson; brothers Anson, Corey, Donald, and Kendall Gibson-Day; grandmothers Joyce A. Day and Shirley B. Gibson; along with loving aunts, uncles, cousins, biological siblings and an extended family who treasure him. Franklin's impact was profound, and he leaves an enduring legacy of love and inspiration that will forever resonate in the hearts of those around him.

Please join our family in celebrating Franklin’s life on Sunday August 4th at 1 pm with a memorial service and reception at McEwen Funeral Service - Derita Chapel, 6300 Mallard Creek Rd, Charlotte, NC 28262.
