Mrs. Frances Pender Gunter

Mrs. Frances Pender Gunter - 85, of Charlotte, went home to the Lord, and her beloved husband, on Saturday April 23, 2016 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. Born January 28, 1931, in Troutman, NC to the late Henderson and Vannah Pender, Mrs. Gunter was the valedictorian for the class of 1949 at Newell High School and graduate of Evans-Carolina Business College. She worked for many years at Fred Wiggins Construction Company, from which she retired, performing secretarial work. She was a member of East Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Joe Don Gunter; her parents Henderson and Vannah Pender; and her brother Jones Pender. She is survived by her sister with whom she enjoyed weekly shopping and lunch dates Feroline Loren of Indian Land, SC, daughter Carolyn Gunter Webb (Kevin) of Iva, SC; Larry Charles Gunter (Pam) of Charlotte, NC; grandson Jason Daniel Collins (Nicki) of Salisbury, NC; Step-granddaughters Kay Cox (Jay) of Huntersville, NC and Oakley Webb of Iva, SC; great grandson Brantley Thomas Collins of Salisbury, NC; step great granddaughters Madison and Avery Cox of Huntersville, NC and 2 furry companions, Cleo and Skippy. She was blessed with many nieces and nephews and will be greatly missed by beloved friends and neighbors. The family of Mrs. Gunter would like to express their immense gratitude to the Hospice team at Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte Region for the outstanding care they provided. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 27 at 12 Noon at East Baptist Church, 6850 Monroe Road. Visitation will be one hour prior with service to immediately follow. Burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice and Palliative care of Charlotte Region via donatehospice.org.
