Emma Louise Morris, a native of Charlotte, was the daughter of the late James Berryhill Morris and Emma Auten Morris. She attended Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools, graduating from Sharon High School in 1933 as valedictorian of her class. She graduated from Queens College in 1937. While at Queens she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority, and was secretary of her senior class. After graduation she taught at Kings Mountain High School.
She worked for Dr. Graham Reid for sixteen years, and then at the Charlotte Medical Clinic for twenty-three years. Emma Louise was a long time member of Myers Park Presbyterian Church, where she was awarded a Life Membership in Presbyterian Women. She moved from her home on Ridgewood Avenue to Sharon Towers in 1996.
Emma Louise is survived by nephews, James C. Morris and Nick C. Schiltz; brother-in-law, H. Howard Park, Jr.; one cousin, Charles Morris; four great nephews; a great niece; and ten great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Morris Schiltz Park and her brother, Calvin Morris.
Services will be held in the chapel of Myers Park Presbyterian Church on Friday, December, 7th at 1 o'clock. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. Thursday, December 6th at Sharon Towers. Interment will be private.
