Elizabeth Libby Ann Bumgarner Byers

A native of Mount Holly, NC, Mrs. Byers was born to the late Robert Bumgarner and Annie Gaston Bumgarner on May 8, 1927. She was a retired executive secretary with Bank of America and was a member of First Baptist Church of Charlotte for over 50 years. Mrs. Byers loved dancing, music, playing bridge, nickel-dime poker, fishing, gardening and reading. She had a great sense of humor and loved laughing and giggling. Mrs. Byers is preceded in death by sister, Thelma B. Dees and brother, Caswell Bumgarner.

Mrs. Byers is survived by her loving husband and caregiver, Richard "Dick" Byers of the home; she was a wonderful mother to Jo Ann Caudle and her favorite son-in-law, David of Winston Salem; and to her grandchildren, David Blake Melton and wife Victoria, Tiffany Melton Smith; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Sam, Jack, Charlie, Riley and Preslee. She is also survived by brothers, Kenneth Bumgarner of Chester, SC, Robert Bumgarner of Indiana, Alfred Bumgarner of Titusville, FL and Michael Bumgarner of Fresno, CA.

A funeral service will be held 11:00a.m., Saturday, July 24 in the chapel at Wilson Funeral and Cremation Service, 5301 Albemarle Rd., Charlotte with the Rev. Karen Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
