Elisabeth Wilburn Parker of Plantation Estates, Matthews, NC, died on September 3, 2012. She was born in Roanoke, VA on December 15, 1922, and was the daughter of the late Isabelle Sislar and Edward G. Wilburn. Mrs. Parker graduated from Andrew Lewis High School in Salem, VA; attended Mary Washington College, Fredericksburg, VA; National Business College; and the University of Virginia Extension in Roanoke. She was employed by the Shenandoah Life Insurance Company and the Veterans Administration in Roanoke; Larson Construction Company in Pittsburgh, PA; Monroe Calculating Machine Company in Charlotte, NC; and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Monroe, NC.
Mrs. Parker was a member of Myers Park United Methodist Church since 1959. She enjoyed her participation in the Fellowship Class and the Ruth Circle of United Methodist Women.
Mrs. Parker was predeceased in 1998 by her husband of 51 years, Malcolm Phillip Parker. She is survived by her brother, E. Gordon Wilburn and his wife, Alice, their three daughters – Gail Gordon, Janice Tharpe, and Carol Mainieri, and their families. Surviving family members also include Mary Garnett Irby, Malcolm Beckett, Douglas Broache, T. J. and Megan Beckett, Steven and Tasha Beckett, Al and Beverly McMath, Margie Byrd, Robin Lewis, Bette Everson, Kenneth and Elisa Parker, Buddy and Laurie Parker, Chris and Eric Chambers, and Macon Parker.
A funeral service will be held in the Francis Chapel of Myers Park United Methodist Church on Saturday, September 8, 2012, at 11:00 am, followed by interment at Sharon Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Fellowship Class.
