Ed Echeverria, 82, of Charlotte, NC, beloved father and grandfather passed away peacefully on February 15, 2024 after a sudden, unexpected aneurysm in his brain. Mr. Echeverria was born in Havana, Cuba. He immigrated to the USA in 1960 and became an American Citizen. He served in the U. S. Army and was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC where he was military police. He graduated college from UNCC with a BS in Psychology and a minor in Engineering. While he was in college, he met a friend who introduced him to Kung Fu and over time became a master martial artist. After college he continued his career in law enforcement with CPD and MCPD. In his downtime he focused on teaching Kung Fu, renovations to his home, and constant care to his yard. Mr. Echeverria loved to sing, cook, and philosophize about religion, politics and human behavior.
Mr. Echeverria was predeceased by his parents Max and Carmen Echeverria. He is survived by his daughter and her husband, Elizabeth and Elliott Field, as well as his grandchildren Zackary Correll, and William and Emma Field. In addition, he has a surviving sister and her husband, Graciela and Norman Kingsbury, and his Nephew, Ivan Krsnik, of Alta Loma, CA.
His memorial service will be held at his home 1619 Chippendale Ave on April 20th at 3:30pm. There may be a luncheon on the same day TBD.
The Family requests that Memorial Donations be made to Harris Hospice at Novant Presbyterian Hospital where Mr. Echeverria received great care in his final hours, in lieu of sending flowers or gifts.
