Donald Walker Morris Jr.

Donald Walker Morris, Jr., aged 70, of Mint Hill, NC, passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2022, at Novant Matthews with his family by his side. He was born on August 16, 1951, in Charlotte, NC, to Donald and Juanita Morris.

He graduated from East Mecklenburg High School in 1970 and from Montreat Anderson Junior College in 1972. After college he managed his family’s jewelry stores in Chesnee, SC and Bennettsville, SC. It was in Bennettsville that he met his wife Denise. In 1989, they moved to Charlotte where he began a career as a real estate agent/broker.Don was a member of the Lions Club of Bennettsville. He also was a 32nd degree Mason in Marlboro Masonic Lodge #88 as well as a member of the Omar Shrine Temple of SC.

Don’s greatest pleasure was his family and his grandchildren were the lights of his life. His life’s calling was to never meet a stranger. He was above all a great conversationalist, making people laugh with his natural unique comedic self. Be assured that if you came to his house, he would not let you leave until he was satisfied that you were neither hungry nor thirsty. He will definitely be missed.

Don was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Denise Morris; his sons, Walker Morris (Emily) and Ben Morris (Becca); his grandchildren, Teigan Morris, Riley Morris, Lane Morris, and Lucy Morris; his sister, Mary Hart Scott (David); his niece, Kelly Scott; his nephew, Nick Scott (Kathryn); and his great niece, Olivia.

Services will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at McEwen Funeral Service - Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Rd., Mint Hill, NC. A visitation will be held prior from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, 4426 Central Avenue, Charlotte, NC. The service will also be livestreamed on Facebook Live (https://www.facebook.com/McEwenMintHill/).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, the National Kidney Foundation, or the American Red Cross.
