Debora “Debbie” Kay Boudrie (Bucko) age 59, formerly of Ford City, PA and Rossford, OH, passed away peacefully in hospice care near her home in Charlotte, NC after a long battle with cancer. Debbie moved from Ford City to Rossford at a young age and was a proud graduate of Rossford High School (Class of 1976) where she formed many lifelong friendships. She worked for Jobst Institute in Toledo, OH and relocated to Charlotte, NC with the company in 1993. Debbie would call Charlotte home for the next 24 years.
Debbie made the world a more beautiful place through both her spirit and her extraordinary talent as a craftswoman and folk artist. She fashioned intricate wreaths, created home décor, refinished furniture, cross-stitched, quilted, and excelled at any other artistic endeavor she set her mind to. Along with her husband Jim, a talented woodworker, they filled their home with one-of-a-kind furniture and décor that delighted and amazed visitors. She also had a penchant for producing handmade gifts for her loved ones that were as beautiful and unique as she was. In addition to her artistic talents, Debbie was also an exceptional cook and baker who applied her considerable creativity and skill to every dish she made. Each meal she prepared for her family and friends was a labor of love and a blessing to those she fed.
Laughter was also one of her gifts, with a sense-of-humor that was quick witted and sharp. She loved to laugh out loud and you always had to be prepared for her good-natured razzing. Although she would best describe herself as a home-body, she enjoyed traveling the U.S. and being inspired by the art and architecture of beautiful places.
Debbie was a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and wife. She embodied the kind of love for others that the world so desperately needs more of. Debbie embraced her role as “Grammy” with gusto, and struck just the right balance between guiding and spoiling her grandchildren!
Debbie is survived by her husband Jim Boudrie, her father Franklyn Bucko, her son Greg Bucko, her step-sons Justin and Jason Boudrie, and her brother Frank Bucko. She has six grandchildren that she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her mother, Carole Jean Bucko, in 2014.
A celebration of Debbie’s life will be held at the McEwen Funeral Home in Pineville, NC on August 26th at 2PM. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family is requesting donations to the Levine & Dickson Hospice House at Southminster in Charlotte, NC. The incredible staff at this hospice made Debbie’s last days with us as comfortable as possible and their kindness and support of the family has been exceptional. Donations can be made directly on their website at hpccr.thankyou4caring.org.
