David Teachey, 86, formerly of Wilmington NC, answered God’s call and went to live with Him in Heaven on March 12, 2019. His wife of 53 years, Roberta, was a comforting presence by his side. He was born the first son of Alfred and Virginia Teachey on July 9, 1932.
As a young person, David was a member of the Sea Scouts in Wilmington, NC where he learned valuable life lessons and skills. David graduated from New Hanover High School in Wilmington, NC and started a career of 34 years with Kraft Foods as an accountant. David was a constant companion of his wife, Roberta Foster Teachey, and left many beautiful memories for her to enjoy. David was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC and served in many responsible positions including Deacon. He has been a member of the Men’s Thursday morning Bible study and was a member of the Kerygma Sunday School Class. David’s wit and presence in Sunday School Class will be remembered for a long time. He was a member of the Charlotte Gun Club and spent many hours target shooting with many members. He was a quiet man with a deep intellect that benefited anyone who came to know him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Virginia Teachey. He is survived by his wife, Roberta Foster Teachey; sister, Dinah Knowles (Ervin); brother, Wayne Teachey (Debra); and many nieces and nephews who are left with an abundance of good memories.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at 11 am at Providence Baptist Church, 4921 Randolph Road, Charlotte, NC 28211.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Providence Baptist Church; North Carolina Baptist Retirement Homes; or any charity of your choice to commemorate David’s memory.
